Examples of our work - Student Accommodation, Swansea

Redevelopment of a brownfield site to provide purpose-built student accommodation. Extensive pre-application discussion with the Local Highway Authority was followed by the production of a Transport Assessment and Travel Plan to support the planning application. Input was provided into servicing requirements and cycle parking provision and layout. Following planning approval, a Stopping Up order was progressed to enable successful implementation of the scheme.

Rock Grounds, Aberdare

Red Oak provided Transport Planning services to support the successful application to undertake a comprehensive redevelopment of the former Council offices. The proposals included an Aparthotel, Restaurant and Spa and will provide a significant investment into Aberdare town centre and valuable leisure and tourism infrastructure. We undertook trip generation analysis to compare the extant and proposed uses, a parking assessment and design work on the access to ensure a safe and appropriate design was provided. This was encapsulated in production of a Transport Statement and Travel Plan leading to a resolution to grant at planning committee.

Palace Theatre, Swansea.

As part of the effort to save and restore this iconic building, Neil led the transport related inputs to the scheme. This involved negotiation with the LHA over the appropriateness of a car free mixed-use development, agreement for the temporary stopping up of Bethesda Street to allow construction, and the design of active travel improvements both in front of the building and on Prince of Wales Road. This was encapsulated in production of a Transport Statement and Travel Plan in support of the successful planning application.

Former Synagogue, Merthyr Tydfil

This project involved the restoration and refurbishment of the former Synagogue in Merthyr Tydfil to provide a visitor centre highlighting the extensive Jewish Cultural influence on South Wales and the UK. Red Oak provided Transport Planning services to support the design team and overcome obstacles relating to visitor parking and servicing arrangements as well as detailing travel patterns for the expected visitors from the local area and nationwide.

Residential Development, St Clears.

Neil provided advice to the development team in advance of scheme design in order to demonstrate that safe and suitable access could be achieved. Following this, a Transport Statement was prepared in support of the planning application, with design inputs to the access road layout to allow appropriate access for service vehicles. Active Travel improvements on the local highway were agreed with the LHA, and mitigation measures agreed with the South Wales Trunk Road Agency to ensure there is no impact on the operation of the A40 off-slip.
